The Federal Transit Administration's (FTA) Office of Research, Demonstration and Innovation is hosting a forum to bring together the academic and transit communities.  The workshop has several purposes:

  • To bring together UTCs, the FTA, and Transit Providers.
  • To discuss research projects of joint interest that support the national strategy for surface transportation research for the two topics outlined below.
  • To discover opportunities to work cooperatively on commonly held critical transit needs.

This conference will consider two topics:
  • Disaster, Response, Recovery and Security
  • United We Ride Human Service Transportation and Mobility Management

When?  Monday, May 14, 2007 from 8:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Where?  Sheraton Birmingham; 2101 Richard Arrington Jr. Boulevard North; Birmingham, AL

Please Note:  The Research and Innovation Technology Administration (RITA) has decided that university representatives planning to attend one or more FTA listening sessions may request reimbursement for certain costs as pre-incurred expenses under their forthcoming UTC grant (if the grant is yet to be awarded), or as allowable under their existing UTC grant.  Eligible expenses include transportation, registration and per diem (meals and lodging) as allowed under the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Circular governing UTC grants.
